Winchester, TENN. — Under pressure from a raucous crowd this afternoon, U.S. Rep. Lincoln Davis, D-Tenn., said he probably would not vote for a public option in health care bills being debated in Congress.

Speaking to an overflow crowd of hundreds of people in the Franklin County Annex, Rep. Davis said the co-ops being discussed would be a better way to lower costs. In response to question from the audience, the congressman also said he would not vote for any bill that required employers to cover all employees, that would provide government funding for abortions or provide care for illegal immigrants.

Finally, one audience members asked what the congressman would support.

He said he would support a bill that would allow citizens who have been insured previously to buy insurance, even with a preexisting condition.
