Deputy denies affair with Theresa Parker

by Chloé Morrison

LaFAYETTE, Ga. — Lawyers in the Sam Parker trial questioned witness Shane Green this morning about his relationship with Theresa Parker and his trip to the Parkers’ home to check on her welfare the morning after she was last seen.

Mr. Parker is on trial for murder, accused of killing his estranged wife in March, 2007.

Mr. Green was a Walker County deputy at the time Mrs. Parker disappeared. He testified that he was friends with Mrs. Parker and with all the workers at the Walker County 911 center where she worked as a dispatcher.

Mr. Parker’s lawyer, Public Defender David Dunn, claimed that Mr. Green was having an affair with Mrs. Parker, but Mr. Green denied that.

The defense has alleged that Mrs. Parker had other affairs but none has been proven or established in court.

Prosecutors asked Mr. Green what he saw the morning of March 22, 2007, when he went to check on the Parkers' residence.

He said he saw Mr. Parker’s vehicles and no others.

The defense attempted to discredit Mr. Green, pointing out that he had violated policy by going out of his assigned area to check on the house.

Mr. Green's testimony will continue after lunch.
