Rants

THE ECONOMY is about to begin a recovery. Right! Everybody who believes that, raise your hand.

LET’S HEAR IT for Dalton Roberts! As usual, he’s exactly right! We need a unified government.

BUILD A NEW school and It is already filled to capacity. Can’t our local leaders get anything right? Oh, I forgot, it’s just tax dollars.

WHO WANTS a massive, government-run health care plan? Eliminate Medicare now!

HARD TO BELIEVE so many people are satisfied with a health care system that’s ranked 37th in the world.

LOOK AT THE government mismanagement of the “Cash for Clunkers” program. Imagine what they can do with government-run health care!

THE REPUBLICAN-CONTROLLED TVA board voted to cut the COLAs of 23,000 retirees, including many elderly and widows. So much for Republican family value claims.

IF MOTHER GOOSE was living in the South today, she would write : “Mary had a little meth lab.”

POLICE OFFICERS are highly underpaid. We get what we pay for in Chattanooga.

MY SUNDAY-go-to-church attire: Best suit, best body armor, best gun and ammo and, oh yeah, my best Bible.

HEY, IF WE’RE gonna pay taxes why not at least get health care in return?

DOES IT just not register with conservative readers why Clay Bennett’s work always appears on the left-hand page? Are they really that dense?

And then medicare can give me all the money its taken out of my paycheck over the years! If I had the option of participating or not-I wouldn't!!!

Where did you get the number 37 from? Oh, thats right. The UN. Very reliable sourse. Just curious why the Sheiks, Prime Ministers, Kings, Chancellors of those other 36 come here for their treatment? Hmm...

If most people had kept the money spent on Medicare and Social Security, they would have spent it by retirement with nothing to live on nor any health care. That's the nature of us Americans. On our current health care- it's the best money can buy, that is if you have money.

EATn - so therefore the government should step in and take care of us because "that's the nature of us Americans"? No self-discipline, no sense of personal responsibility? Speak for yourself.

Sailorman, my point is that if we have voluntary contributions to Social Security and Medicare, many folks will decline and spend the money, and we will still windup supporting them in their old age. It may not be a perfect govt system, but it's still better than nothing.

And my point is I have a hard enough time taking care of myself. Why should we be expected to pick up the slack for those who won't or don't. For those who can't - and there's a difference - there should be a safety net. To paraphrase an adage; Their failure to plan does not constitute an emergency on my part.
