Man is charged in Thrasher Pike family fight

A man has been charged with assault at a home on Thrasher Pike on Sunday afternoon.

According to a news release from the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to a disorder at 1518 Thrasher Pike around 3 p.m. They arrived to find the victim, Toni Boring, had been assaulted by her brother, James Burnette, 51. The home was that of the mother of the suspect and victim.

The news release said the two argued over a vehicle and the confrontation turned into a physical assault. Deputies reported Ms. Boring was struck on the head and upper body. Mr. Burnette went inside the home and refused to come out, and deputies asked for the SWAT team.

Members of the SWAT team arrived and made contact with Mr. Burnette, who surrendered without incident. He was charged with aggravated domestic assault and taken to the Hamilton County Jail. Ms. Boring was treated and released on the scene for her injuries.

His court date and bond had not been set as of Sunday evening.
