Parker jurors ask to see evidence

by Chloé Morrison

LaFAYETTE, Ga. —Jurors in the Sam Parker case broke off deliberations about 90 minutes after they began, asking to see some evidence.

Mr. Parker, a former LaFayette police officer, is being tried on a charge of murdering his wife, former Walker County 911 dispatcher Theresa Parker. He has pleaded not guilty.

Testimony ended Friday and jurors got the case about 2 p.m., after closing arguments.

Jury members requested hard copies of electronic photos shown during testimony, which the judge granted. Jurors also asked for additional evidence, such as transcripts of interviews and additional pictures, which don't exist. Judge Jon “Bo” Wood told the jury they are not allowed to ask for more evidence.

“You have everything that was admitted as evidence,” he said. “There is not going to be any more evidence.”
