Mabel S. Bradford, 89, of Hixson, died Monday, Dec. 7, 2009.

Franklin Cunningham

Franklin Dion Cunningham Sr., 75, of Lupton City, Tenn., went to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 7, 2009. He passed away at his home with his loving wife, Mary, of 50 years at his side.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Anna Bess Cunningham; sisters, Treva Keener and Sue Cunningham; and brother, Thomas J. Cunningham

He is survived by his aunt, Ella Mae Gilbert; sister, Avis (Bobby) Austin; and brother, Jim (Yvonne) Cunningham, of Dunlap, Tenn.; brothers, Clyde (Faye) Cunningham and sister-in-law, Nancy Cunningham, of Spencer, Tenn., Raymond (Wilma) Cunningham, of Dayton, and Melvin (Judy) Cunningham, of Chattanooga; sons, Dion (Susan) Cunningham and Mark (Barbara) Cunningham, of Spencer, Tenn., and Franklin Cunningham Jr.; and daughters, Louise (Greg) Adamson, of Chattanooga, and Patsy (Larry) Qualls, of Soddy-Daisy; grandchildren, Brian Cunningham, Kayla Moore, Kevin Cunningham, Heather Ross, Courtney Cunningham and Sarah Adamson; great-grandchildren, Riley and Zoey Moore and Aidan Ross; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Franklin was a member of Mooneyham Church of God where he was the Adult Sunday School teacher for over 35 years. He was an avid fisherman well known by fishermen from all over the Tennessee Valley. Franklin was a veteran of the Korean War.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. CST Wednesday at Mooneyham Church of God with the Rev. Douglas Cunningham officiating.

Burial will be at Myers Cemetery.

Gary L. Erickson, 75, of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, at his residence.

H. Gregory “Snookie” Hayes of Ooltewah, passed away Friday, Dec. 5, 2009, at his residence.

George Hendon

George A. Hendon, 90, East Ridge, died Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009, at his residence.

He was a member of Delray Baptist Church. Mr. Hendon along with his wife, Jessie, founded the East Ridge Youth Foundation where he served as president for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II where he was assigned to the 272nd Field Artillery Battalion in the European Theater.

His wife of 67 years, Jessie Newton Hendon preceded him in death in April of this year. He also was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Rhonda, and sisters, Pat Gunn, Sarah Bankhead and Dorothy Daniel.

Survivors include his daughter, Sheena (Ken) Meyer, Chattanooga; grandson, Kenneth James Meyer Jr.; brothers, Hugh Hendon, Rossville, and Lewis Hendon, Blairsville, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Childress officiating.

Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.

Pete Hill Jr., 81, of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009.

Michael Alexander Lacey, 35, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009.

Roosevelt Robinson Jr., 60, passed away Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009, at a local health care facility.

JASPER — Robert Lee “Bobby” Graham, 72, passed away Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009, at a local hospital.

Bobby was born in South Pittsburg, Tenn., and had lived in Marion County the majority of his life. He retired from TVA.

He was preceded in death by his father, Waymon Robert Graham; granddaughter, Megan Flynn; and a brother Floyd Graham.

PIKEVILLE — John Thomas “Tom” Graham, 88, passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2009.

He was born Jan. 17, 1921, to the late Plez and Ruth Hixson Graham. His brothers, Staff Sergeant James P. and F.B. Graham; sister, Olena Graham Morgan; and brothers-in-law, Herbert Sweat and W.R. “Jack” Heiss, also preceded him in death.

Tom is survived by his sisters, Betty Sweat, Ruth Ellen (Leon) Tate and Pauline Heiss, and several nieces and nephews.

ROSSVILLE — Lela Helen Oler, 91, passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, in a local health care facility.

A native of Eddysville, Ky., Mrs. Oler has spent the greater part of her life in the Chattanooga area and retired from Rivoli Mills with more than 60 years of service. She was an active member of Rossville Church of the Nazarene and will be missed by all those whose lives she touched.

Survivors include daughter, Eugenia Carty; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

RINGGOLD — Eugene Franklin “Gene” Pierce, 95, died Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009, at his residence.

He was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia area. Mr. Pierce was a member of Burning Bush Baptist Church and the Young at Heart Seniors Group. He retired from Standard-Coosa-Thatcher and was a well known area farmer. Mr. Pierce was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Edwards Pierce; son, Franklin Eugene “Sonny” Pierce; father, William S. Pierce; mother, Bertie Musgrove Pierce; stepmother, Ruby Pierce; brother, Ambrose Pierce; and sisters, Velma Brown, Etta Shell and Ada Blevins.

Leo Tudor

ROSSVILLE — Leo Fletcher Tudor, 75, departed this life Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009.

He was born in Chattanooga Valley to the late Robert Gordon and Ester Payne Tudor, and was preceded in death by his five sisters; brother; and a son.

Fletcher worked for Happy Valley Farms and Post manufacturing, and retired from Yates Bleachery after 50 years of service.

Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Iralean Wells Tudor; daughters, Cindy Mahan and Vicki Tudor; son, David all of Rossville, Chris, of Lookout Mountain, Jon, of Ringgold, and Joe, of Goldsboro, N.C.; sister, Rose Haney, of Chickamauga; brothers, Wayne, of Ringgold, Fred, of Lakeview, and Morgan, of Whitwell; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers,: memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

T.H. Hill

RAINSVILLE — T.H. Hill, 94, passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, in DeKalb Regional Hospital.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. CST Wednesday from W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel.

Burial will be in New Home Cemetery.

Visitation is from 3 to 5 p.m. CST today at W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel.
