Equipment lost in Signal Mountain repair

A Trachoe being used in repair work on Signal Mountain Road fell off the side of the mountain.

The worker operating the equipment was uninjured, said Jennifer Flynn, a spokeswoman for the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

The equipment’s fall did not delay the work, she said.

Workers are fixing the road after rain last week washed out part of one lane.

The washout is one of several problems on mountainous roads lately. On Saturday, a rockslide occurred on Scenic Highway on Lookout Mountain. A rockslide also has U.S. Highway 64 in Polk County blocked.
