Villanova 14, Penn 3

Sept. 19, Philadelphia

Recap: Three weeks into the season, the Wildcats are unbeaten and have yet to face an opponent outside of the Keystone State. Do-it-all star Matt Szczur returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown, and that was more than enough for the stout Wildcats defense, which had six sacks, 10 tackles for loss and two interceptions.

Recap: Six Wildcats scored touchdowns and the 'Nova defense again suffocated the opposition. Northeastern averaged just 3.7 yards per play, ran for 97 yards on 34 tries and did not advance inside the Wildcats' 20.

Villanova 28, William & Mary 17

New Hampshire 28, Villanova 24

Oct. 10, Durham, N.H.

Recap: Facing the No. 5-ranked team for the second consecutive week, the Wildcats suffered their first loss in their first road game. New Hampshire notched a quick 10-0 lead and led 22-7 early in the second quarter. Szczur had two long touchdown plays in the Wildcats' charge to take a 24-22 lead heading into the fourth. Two UNH field goals posted the only blemish on this year's championship game teams.

Villanova 27, James Madison 0

Oct. 17, Harrisonburg, Va.

Recap: The Wildcats responded to defeat with an efficient whipping of No. 16-ranked JMU. Quarterback Whitney threw for three scores and ran for 97 yards, despite getting sacked three times. James Madison totaled 260 yards of offense and failed to move inside the Wildcats' 20.

Villanova 36, Rhode Island 7

Villanova 21, Richmond 20

Nov. 7, Richmond, Va.

Recap: In arguably the game of the year in the FCS, the No. 4-ranked Wildcats went on the road and beat the top-ranked Spiders on Brandyn Harvey's 29-yard touchdown catch and Nick Yako's extra point with 1:20 left. The decisive score -- which allowed the Wildcats to win the CAA title and get a top seed and home-field advantage in their side of the playoffs bracket -- was Harvey's third catch of the drive and came on fourth-and-11. Still, the Spiders' struggles in the kicking came proved to be the difference. Richmond missed a point-after kick and made one of two two-point conversions tries. Andrew Howard also missed a 35-yard field-goal attempt with 0:05 left.

Villanova 49, Towson 7

Nov. 14, Towson, Md.

Recap: So much for a letdown? In a game that last just 2:31, the Wildcats made quick work of the hosts. Again the Wildcats' plethora of weapons was on display as six players scored touchdowns. Villanova rushed for 282 yards, led by backup quarterback Antwon Young's 92 yards.

Quarterback Whitney set a career high with 138 yards rushing scored the game's first touchdown to extend Villanova's lead to 10-0. The Wildcats rushed for 275 yards and used three interceptions to balance Pat Devlin's 407 passing yards for the Blue Hens.

Villanova 38, Holy Cross 28

Nov. 28, Villanova, Pa.

Recap: The Wildcats and Holy Cross came out swinging, as the first quarter ended in a 14-14 tie. Behind a career-best 130 yards from Szczur, the Wildcats pulled away. Szczur scored the last touchdown for the Wildcats, who for the fourth time had five players score touchdowns, to extend the lead to 35-21 late in the third quarter. Again 'Nova held a huge edge on the ground (298-46) to counteract a big day passing for the opposition as Holy Cross quarterback Dominic Randolph threw for 347 yards and three scores.

Villanova 46, New Hampshire 7

Dec. 5, Villanova, Pa.

Recap: In a resounding revenge rematch, 'Nova was super. John Dempsey's 4-yard fumble return started the scoring, and the Wildcats never slowed. Again, five players scored touchdowns and the Wildcats built the lead to 39-0 against 10th-ranked New Hampshire. How dominant was the display? VU attempted just five passes, and UNH was credited with minus-66 yards rushing on 23 attempts and finished with 84 total yards in 62 plays.

Villanova 14, William & Mary 13

Dec. 12, Villanova, Pa.

Recap: Szczur scored on a 62-yard run, and his 9-yard run on a fake punt on fourth-and-8 continued the drive that culminated in Whitney's 1-yard touchdown. The win put Villanova in the title game and set a program record for victories in a season with 13.
