about Clay Bennett...
The son of a career army officer, Bennett led a nomadic life, attending ten different schools before graduating in 1980 from the University of North Alabama with degrees in Art and History. After brief stints as a staff artist at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Fayetteville (NC) Times, he went on to serve as the editorial cartoonist for the St. Petersburg Times (1981-1994) and The Christian Science Monitor (1997-2007), before joining the staff of the ...

Okay, fellow bloggers, here we go again, This time getting ready for two thousand ten. It's clear two double nought and nine is ready for the books Complete with heroes, nuts and such and lots of dirty looks.
I wonder as each year goes by if the one ahead will be the one we've all been hoping for, the one in which we'll see This world of ours will come to know the kind of peace we seek, Or if we'll simply turn the page on one more year so bleak.
I think I'll take the higher road and wish you all right now, The best of everything you love and hope for you, somehow, The one thing that would bring us all a year of love and mirth, I raise my toast to wish you all the best and peace on Earth.
Happy New Year, Woody
It may have been a tough year in many respects, but it was a great year for editorial cartoons at the Chattanooga Times-Free Press. Thanks, Clay.
Clay, this one is your best! The missing sandal, the ragged clothes, the look on the kid's face, even the foot/drag prints...perfect.
So...is the old man being carried off or drug off? Either could apply.
Happy New Year to you.
From Clay: Too, too graphic for my sensitive eyes. Gotta love that baby's face though, it's old and young at the same time with a skeptical, worried look-maybe a little of Clay there?
From Woody:"....This world of ours will come to know the kind of peace we seek ....The one thing that would bring us all a year of love and mirth.." Sweet poem, yet the one thing we seek is to rid the world of evil, then we'll have peace. Not gonna happen though without you know Who <@
A blessed, prosperous, healthy and worry-free, peace-filled 2010 to all of youse guys and gals, (Clara and Lightnup-are you out there? hello, hello)
Love, from the brain-birdgirl <@
I am sure (or at least I hope) that 2010 will be a better year in some aspects. However, I know that things can and probably will get much worse. I believe we are in a very delicate time. I am usually a very positive person but also a very realistic person.
I do want to tell all of you that I really enjoy being a part of the post here. As I have said many times, there are a lot of very smart people here that could really help change things if the right people heard the views expressed.
And Clay – You are one of the best. Thanks for what you do even if you do lean left.
I pray that everyone has a very happy and prosperous 2010.
Happy New Year everyone!
May everyone have a blessed and happy new year!
2010 will be better.
Personal responsibility.
Have happy new year!
Poor old 2009, getting dragged off by the death panel. arrghh! ;>)
Happy New Year from Walden!
Happy new year to you all!
Your cartoonist, Clay
Happy New Year to all!!!
Now...can we get back to arguing?
Happy New Year to you all! Let a new year begin! :)
I wonder what the kid thinks now... He is now alone in the spotlight, center stage.
Break a leg, kid.
There are not enough hours and a day or days in a week or weeks in a year to get everything taken care of!
