Former Hamilton County General Sessions Court Judge Mike Carter started serving Wednesday as the county Water and Wastewater Treatment Authority’s attorney.
Mr. Carter will serve part-time through the county attorney’s office. County Attorney Rheubin Taylor told authority board members Mr. Carter would attend “as many meetings as possible.”
For his first year, Mr. Carter’s pay will be $2,500 per month, plus travel and office expenses.
The authority board voted last month to sever ties with attorney John Anderson, who charged $104,176 between July 2007 and June 2008, or about $8,680 a month.
Board Chairman Phil Smartt told members Mr. Carter will be the authority’s exclusive, part-time attorney.
