RINGGOLD, Ga. — The economic pressures facing local and state elected officials have prompted Catoosa County commissioners to schedule a two-day planning and budget session in Marietta, Ga., next week.
County Manager Mike Helton stated in a news release that officials are concerned about the economy and about how bills being considered in the General Assembly may affect Catoosa County residents.
Commission Chairman Keith Greene said the session will allow local and state representatives to plan together for budget challenges and economic development.
“We have invited our state legislators to attend and the mayors and city managers of Ringgold and Fort Oglethorpe are attending,” Mr. Greene said. “Our county manager will be there as will our chief finance officer, Carl Henson.”
About 10 people will stay overnight at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Marietta. Commissioners will carpool and department heads will drive down for the day to make budget presentations, he said.
“This is the first time the commission and the department heads and other elected officials have had a chance to get together and talk about our mission,” he said.
