Firefighters from the Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department in Harrison salute 24-year-old Walker County firefighter Jarrett Little as an engine draped in black carries his casket down U.S. Highway 27 from Fort Oglethorpe on Sunday afternoon. His funeral, held at the Walker County Civic Center on Sunday, followed his death on New Year's Eve when the firetruck he was driving crashed while responding to a call.
Nearly 600 family, friends and fellow emergency workers attended a memorial service for Walker County firefighter Jarrett Little in Rock Spring on Sunday.
Mr. Little was killed when the truck he was driving rolled and hit a power pole during a turn onto McFarland Avenue from Mission Ridge Road on New Year’s Eve. He was the first Walker County Fire and Rescue firefighter killed in the line of duty.
He had worked with the agency for two years and began firefighting with Fort Oglethorpe Fire and Rescue nine years ago.
