Tennessee: Many businesses, offices will close Monday

Public offices, public schools and many area businesses will be closed Monday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, authorities said.

Hamilton County and Chattanooga city government offices will be closed for the holiday, as will Hamilton County and other public schools in Southeast Tennessee and North Georgia.

Banks will be closed, and there will be no U.S. Postal Service mail delivery.

Several downtown Chattanooga streets will be closed from 4-5:15 p.m. Monday for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Memorial March, according to the city traffic engineer. M.L. King Boulevard between Magnolia and Broad streets and northbound Broad Street from M.L. King Boulevard to Seventh Street will be closed for the parade.

Auto emissions testing centers in Hamilton County will be closed Monday. All stations will resume their regular schedules on Tuesday.
