Chattanooga: Police search for Lee Highway bank robber

Chattanooga police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred at the Regions Bank at 6238 Lee Highway, police said.

The incident happened just after 3 p.m. Tuesday when a man entered the bank and passed a note to the teller demanding money, said Lt. Kim Noorbergen, police spokeswoman. The man then produced a gun. After he received the money, he left the bank in an unknown direction.

Police are seeking a black man who stands 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs about 230 to 240 pounds. He is clean shaven and was wearing black wire- rimmed reading glasses, witnesses said.

He wore a dark toboggan and dark jacket, Lt. Noorbergen said. He is believed to be between 35 and 40 years old, she said.

Police do not yet have pictures of the robber. Anyone with information is asked to call the Chattanooga Police Department at 643-5000.

I know that the cashier was probably very upset especially with a gun pointed at her or him but was the thief white, black, multicolored, etc? With this cold weather we are having this description fits any one of half of Chattanooga,TN. Sorry, I'm not trying to be sarcastic but in order for the public to be aware which I am always looking out because I live in a neighborhood that many new faces show up all of the time, I want to make sure that where I live there is no drug dealers, bankrobbers, child molesters, (I have a child and there are children living in this area also). So I would definitely want to see a picture or want to know what race the person is so that there is a person that I have never seen in my area that seems very suspicious and out of place, I would report it right away.

Re-read the article Ramirez49. It clearly states that criminal is black. You must have misread it.
