Chattanooga: No guns found in searches at schools

by Jacqueline Koch

Authorities today found no guns at three Hamilton County schools that were searched by explosives detection canines as part of a gun-free school zone campaign.

The canines, belonging to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, searched Red Bank High School and Howard and East Lake Middle schools this morning, officials said.

The searches are an extension of the “Be Cool, Don’t Let Guns Rule” campaign launched late last spring in the schools. The campaign asks people to report guns on campuses and at events through an anonymous tip line.

A search Wednesday morning at Lookout Valley High School also yielded no weapons.
