ROB HEALY

Age: 57

Occupation: Owner of RH Apparel

Personal: Married 36 years; three sons and four grandsons

Experience: Served as executive director of Outdoor Chattanooga, head of the city Parks and Recreation Department, executive director of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and also owned and operated a regional grocery store chain for almost 30 years

Education: Bachelor’s degree from Georgia Institute of Technology

Key issues: Economic development; youth; public safety

How he is different than the current mayor: Wants curbside recycling weekly; against a centralized homeless complex; brings business experience; thinks city should not take over funding for library.

Key quote: “When I was in the public sector, I heard many people tell me this is the way we’ve always done it. That’s a bad answer. It should be, ‘It’s the best way to do it.’”

Occupation: Business analyst for Unum

Personal: Married with a 4-year-old son

Experience: Has served as a business analyst for Unum 10 years; has written a blog about local politics for several years

Education: Masters of arts degree, Andrews University

Key issues: Increase citizen participation in government; make neighborhoods safer; make recycling weekly

How is he different than the current mayor: Brings fresh ideas and new perspective
