Ice, snow moving eastward across Tennessee

NASHVILLE — Heavy rain, followed by freezing rain, followed by snow plagues Tennessee.

National Weather Service radar showed precipitation falling from the Mississippi River eastward across the Cumberland Plateau.

Small stream flooding was reported in Dickson and Cheatham counties, west of Nashville, with water over some rural roads.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation reported Interstate 40 had slick spots in West Tennessee from Brownsville to the Tennessee River as colder temperatures changed the rain over to freezing rain. In northwest Tennessee, snow was beginning and spreading eastward. Accumulations up to 2 inches were forecast.

All of West Tennessee and the northern half of Middle Tennessee were under a winter weather advisory until after noon.

Temperatures at dawn varied from 30 degrees in Huntingdon in West Tennessee to 61 degrees in Knoxville and Chattanooga.
