Mayfield says products clear of threat

by Ron Clayton

ATHENS, Tenn. — Mayfield Dairy Farms announced today that it does not use peanut butter or peanut butter paste from Peanut Butter Corp. of America in its products.

Salmonella has been detected in the Georgia company’s peanut products.

“We have enough phone calls that we thought it best to” notify customers that they do not need to worry about Mayfield products, said Scottie Mayfield, president of Mayfield Dairy Farm. “None of our products are affected by this recall.”

He said the company has seen no drop in ice cream sales. He also said the company plans to lower milk prices in February.

Mayfield Dairy Farms produces dairy products that are sold in nine Southeastern states.
