Natalie Baum
Marie "Natalie" Ross Baum, 74, of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, June 28, 2009, with family by her side.
Natalie was a loving mother, grandmother and retired nurse. She was a member of Signal Mountain Bible Church.
Survivors include her daughters: Julie (Jeff) Williams, of Signal Mountain and Marnie (David) Grazer, of Alexandria, Va.; sister, Dina Monaghan, of Washington; brother, David Ross, of Massachusetts; grandchildren, Jonathan, Joel and Jacob Williams; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 4, 2009, at Signal Mountain Bible Church, 4872 Shackleford Ridge Road, Signal Mountain, TN 37377 with Dr. Gary Phillips officiating. A reception will follow the service.

Edwin Billingsley passed Saturday, June 27, 2009, at a local health care facility.
Preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Donald Blevins
Donald L. Blevins, 85, of Ooltewah, died Sunday, June 28, 2009, at his home.
He was a prominent and well known independent grocer from 1946-1966 at which time he merged Don's Food Basket with Red Food Stores. He served as President and Chairman of the Board of Red Food Stores until 1980.
Mr. Blevins had been involved in major real estate transactions throughout the Chattanooga area. He had been active in many civic and community organizations including, former Chairman of the Chattanooga area Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Electric Power Board of Chattanooga, Director of First Federal Savings and Loan Association and Director of the Better Business Bureau.
Mr. Blevins was a member of the Chattanooga Rotary Club, City Farmers Club and the Temple Masonic Lodge 30 F&AM.
He had been honored with the Executive of the Year Award in 1981. He held membership at First-Centenary United Methodist Church for many years and most recently had been a member of First Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Adkins Blevins; brothers, Foy Blevins and Doyle Blevins.
Survivors are his son, Ed Blevins, Santa Rosa, Calif.; daughter. Dianne Graham, Athens, Ga.; four grandchildren, Michelle Hoover, Melanie Graham, Jennifer Graham, Christina Graham; one great-grandchild, Catherine Hoover; sister, Delphia Kissiah, Houston, Texas.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the chapel with Ben Haden officiating.
Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Frances Carson
Frances "Mo" Carson, 60, of Chattanooga, loving wife, mother and grandmother, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whom she loved with all her heart, Tuesday, June 30, 2009.
She was born Dec. 21, 1948 and was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga.
She was a longtime member of Bayside Baptist Church where she had taught for many years the pre-school and 5 year-old Sunday School Class. Mrs. Carson was a self-employed C.P.A. and was past-president and current treasurer of the Tennessee Association of Accountants.
Her father, Donald R. Gaither Sr. preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Benny J. Carson; son, Andrew "Andy" (Angela) Carson; daughter, Kimberly Tawzer; mother, Frances B. Gaither; grandchildren, Lindi and Drew Carson, all of Chattanooga; brothers, Donald Gaither Jr., of East Ridge, John B. (Paulette) Gaither, of Hixson; special niece, Margaret Hall, of Chattanooga; and several other nieces and nephews.
She was affectionately known as "Mo" by her grandchildren whom she dearly loved.
The family wishes to thank the 4-west staff of Parkridge Medical Center, Avalon Hospice and Halidee Hunt for their love and care of Mrs. Carson during her illness.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the Valley View Chapel with the Rev. Grady Cooper officiating.
Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Philip John Gardner Jr., 28, formerly of Athens, Tenn., passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at his Chattanooga residence.
He attended McMinn County High School. He was a member of Faith Unlimited Ministries Christian Center.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thomas Davis, Mary Frances Davis and Everett Gardner; and dear friend, Sue Greisemer.

Ralph Harcrow
Lealon Ralph Harcrow, 81, of Hixson, passed away Monday, June 29, 2009, at a local heath care facility.
He was of the Baptist faith. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was retired from DuPont after 47 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Harcrow; parents, Homer Stetson Harcrow and Mildred Harcrow.
He is survived by his brothers, Glen Harcrow, Harold Harcrow, Nickey (Linda) Harcrow; sisters, Betty Drecoll, Shirley (Bill) Williams, Roberta (Fred) Henderson, Kathryn Profit; special friends, Jeff, Darlene and Jacob Moore.

Douglas Lorell Harris, 75 of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2009.
He has lived in the Chattanooga area for the past 14 years and was of the Christian faith. He served his country in the U.S. Army before working at Hayes Aircraft in Birmingham. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed his time fly fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gaither and Augusta Harris; son, Dan Allen Harris; daughter, Francies Paige Harris; and brother, Elton Harris.
He is survived by his former wife and best friend, Ellen Harris; daughter, Amy Harris; sisters, Jaunita Baker, Melva Taylor, and Ikey Hyde; grandchildren, Derek, Ryan and Hayden; and several nieces and nephews.

Kenneth Harris Sr.
Kenneth Franklin Harris Sr. died Monday, June 29, 2009, at his residence.
He had been a resident of Chattanooga for the past 30 years and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Harris was retired from sales and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Harris; and son, Kenneth Franklin Harris Jr.
Survivors are daughters, Michelle Pleinis, Crossville, Tenn., Lynnette Harris, Ringgold, Karen Hodge, Fort Wainwright, Alaska; eight grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at National Cemetery.

Marie Chancey Hatfield, 94, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2009.
She was a member of Daisy Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Sarah Chancey; daughter, Patsy Ruth; four sisters; and six brothers.
She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Julius Hatfield; sons, Wade (Bettye) Hatfield, of Soddy-Daisy, and Leland (Ann) Hatfield, of Morrison, Tenn.; granddaughter, Cyndee (Rick) Koenig, of Augusta, Ga.; grandson, Shane (Shannon) Hatfield, of Las Vegas, Nev.; great-grandsons, Trey and Briston; great-granddaughters, Autumn and Amber; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 2, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Estle Sanders and the Rev. Grant Chauncey officiating.
Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Maxine Heck
Maxine B. Heck, 85, of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2009.
She was of the Baptist faith.
She was born, Dec. 29, 1923 to the late Harold and Bonnie Buck in Sioux City, Iowa. She has lived in the Chattanooga area for the past 53 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence N. Heck; and daughter, Bonnie C. Heck Payne.
She is survived by two sons, William Robert Heck, of Chattanooga and R. Richard Heck and wife, Ann, of Harrison. Survivors also include four grandchildren, Major John Heck, of Washington, D.C., Dr. Stephanie Heck Brodkin and husband, Dr. Ted Brodkin, of Philadelphia, Pa., Michael L. Payne and wife, Tami, of Cockysville, Md., and Kristin Heck Coverly and husband, Derek Coverly, of Ringgold, Ga. Seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends for visitation today, July 1, from 2-8 p.m. at North Chapel Chattanooga Funeral Home, 5401 Highway 153.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 2, at 10 a.m. in the North Chapel. Services will be conducted by Pastor Ronnie Dotson.

Effie Redden Ingle, 89, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away Monday, June 29, 2009 in a local hospital.
She was a member of the Daisy Church of God for 64 years. Mrs. Ingle was preceded in death by husband of 60 years, J.E. "Curly" Ingle; parents Alonzo and Missouri Redden along with several brothers and sisters.

He was a retired Truck Driver "Daddy Gene" from Brown Stove Work, Cleveland, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Malone; parents, Sam and Murzy Malone; 10 brothers and sisters; and one grandson, Jeremy Malone.
Survivors are wife, Margaret Malone; one son and daughter-in-law, Jr. and Jean Malone, of Cleveland, Tenn.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Edith and Jimmy Runyan, of Ooltewah, Debbie and David Everett, of Decatur, Tenn.; two stepdaughters, Becky and Joann Boyd, of Ooltewah; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one stepgranddaughter; and three stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Addie Smith, of Ooltewah, and Evelyn Davis, of Harrison. He has several brother and sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews.

Carl L. Taylor Sr., 80, of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, June 29, 2009, at his residence.

Rhoda Walls
Rhoda "Ma" Walls, 62, on Saturday, June 27, 2009, 11:32 a.m., made her final transition with her family and dear friend by her side.
She was born April 21, 1947 to the union of George Clinton and Mary Bond Walls in West Grove, Pa. She was one of 17 children born to this union.
Rhoda was a member of the Supreme Council of House of Jacob. Where she dedicated many years of her life working in Bethlehem Township, Ohio, she was one of the original staff members of Bethlehem Elementary School and throughout the years served in many other capacities.
Rhoda received her secondary education from Howard University where she graduated in 1978 in early childhood education. In 1997 she graduated from Prince Georges Community College receiving a degree in Radiography.
Rhoda retired from Hechinger Co. in 1998 and decided to join her daughter in Grand Rapids, Mich. She continued her career in the medical field and was employed with St. Mary's Health Services. In 2000 Rhoda decided to stay by her daughter's side and move to Austin, Texas, still maintaining her medical career. Rhoda's undying commitment to her daughter and grandchildren did not stop there she then moved with her family to Chattanooga.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories one daughter, Tonja (Michael Sr.) Walls-Davis; two grandchildren, Jaiton and Michael Jr., Chattanooga; 12 siblings, George Clinton (Betty) Walls Jr., West Grove, Pa., Phillip (Rachel) Walls, Cinncinnati, James L. Willard Wilks
Willard C. "Fats" Wilks, 60, departed this earthly transition on Saturday, June 27, 2009.
A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, he was the son of late Harold and Juanita Wilks.
He was preceded in death by three siblings, Harold Jr., Wilma Dean, Wilbur (his twin), niece, Zina DeVett; grandparents, the late Joseph H. Rebecca Wilks, the late James L. and Mattie House, also several uncles, aunts and other relatives.
Mr. Wilks attended Central High School, and completed his high school diploma in the U.S. Marine Corps, in 1969. He was a member of St. Elmo Missionary Baptist Church.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his son, Willard Jr.; two sisters, Beauty Pasty (Paul) Miller, of Nashville, Rubye Wilks (James A.) Wilson, of Chattanooga; two brothers, James L. and Ulysess, of Nashville; one aunt, Lela Spears; and uncle, Willard Jones; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews; a host of many beloved cousins, friends and special friends.

Vera Holloway
SPRING CITY -- Vera B. Holloway, 98, died Monday, June 29, 2009, at Rhea County Medical Center.
Born in Bledsoe County, she was the daughter of the late John Marshall and Lou Henderson Billingsley. Vera was a graduate of Rhea Central High School. She retired from Chamberlain Memorial Hospital as a LPN after 25 years of service. Vera then worked for the Rhea County Department of Education as a school nurse and as a substitute teacher. She was a 75-year member of Spring City Church of Christ.
Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Homer K. Holloway; and a grandson, Freddie Holloway.
Survivors include her daughters, Geraldine (Finley) Bandy and Nancy Smith, both of Hixson; and a son, Ralph Holloway, of Nashville; sister, Edna Parnell, of Oneida, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Brother Jim McCord officiating.
Burial will be in Spring City Cemetery.

He retired from Metropolitan Nashville Public School System and Northwest Airlines.

RINGGOLD -- Jack Joseph Babb, 81, faithful Christian and prominent businessman of Ringgold, passed away at his home on Monday, June 29, 2009.

ROSSVILLE -- David William "Rev. Booger" Pittman, 48, passed away Monday, June 29, 2009.
He was born in Memphis on Feb. 21, 1961, but has lived in the North Georgia area for most of his life and was of the Christian faith. He was employed with Shaw Industries as an Electrician for more than 10 years and was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of the A.R.M. Group (Association of Recovering Motorcyclists), as well as a writer for Road Rash Magazine. He was always active in many different charities, such as the Stockings Full of Love and fund raising for the National Guard Troops serving overseas.
He was preceded in death by his father, John William Pittman; daughter, Cynthia Lynn Pittman and a special uncle, William "Boogie" Edington.
Survivors include his loving wife, Pam Pittman, of Rossville; mother, Helen Pittman, of Ringgold, Ga.; son, Alex William Pittman, of Rossville; sister, Janice Anderson, of Nashville; special niece, Lea Michelle Anderson and numerous other family, cousins and friends of the ARM Group.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2009, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Brother John Hitchens and Brother Jimmy Cornette officiating.
Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel.
