Engineers from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Moldova, Tajikistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan met Wednesday with local business people and UTC professors.
Years of control by the former Soviet Union left the infrastructure of many countries inadequate to handle commercial and industrial growth, and leaders and engineers from those countries are working to rebuild it.
Local companies and agencies taking part in the two-day program include University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, the city Department of Public Works, Tennessee Department of Transportation, Vulcan Materials, Ready Mix USA, Stein Construction, and Astec Industries.
