Tennessee: Ultra-light plane crash lands, pilot survives

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — The pilot of an ultra-light airplane has escaped serious injury from a crash landing in northeastern Tennessee near the Greeneville-Greene County Municipal Airport.

The Greeneville Sun reports that pilot Steve Preston of Telford was able to pull himself from the wreckage of the fabric-covered Coyote after crashing at about noon EDT Tuesday.

He was taken to Johnson City Medical Center for evaluation.

Tusculum Volunteer Fire Department Capt. Jason Less says Preston was flying from nearby Cooper Field to the Greeneville airport when the engine quit. He managed to restart the engine, but it stalled again, and he was forced to land in a pasture.
