Operation of the Incline Railway on Lookout Mountain was suspended today after an anonymous caller made a threat was against patrons and employees.

A receptionist at the railway received a phone call, at which time the caller at the other end stated, “All of you at the Incline are going to die,” said Tom Dugan, CARTA’s executive director.

The railway’s operations ceased and authorities called the Lookout Mountain police, who referred them to the Chattanooga Police Department, Mr. Dugan said.

Officials requested that the police department treat the threat as real and the Chattanooga police bomb squad is en route to the attraction.

“Hopefully, we will re-open in a couple hours,” Mr. Dugan said.

Those at the top of the incline can be transported to the bottom via a bus, he added.
