Students appear in court on underage drinking charges

Three of the McCallie School students allegedly involved in an April fight at Signal Mountain High School appeared in court Tuesday night to face charges of underage drinking and criminal trespassing, among other charges.

Kevin Durrence had his driver’s license suspended and was ordered to pay $250 plus court costs after his DUI charge was amended to underage driving while impaired. He was given a diversion on his criminal trespassing charge, meaning the charge will not be on his record if he maintains good behavior, according to Signal Mountain municipal court.

Myles Stout had his charges of underage drinking and criminal trespassing dismissed without proof, according to the court.

Cole Perrin’s preliminary hearing was moved to Sept. 1, when he will face charges of criminal trespassing and underage drinking, according to the court.

The fight April 9 at Signal Mountain High School led to police charges, expulsions and suspensions for many of those involved. Four McCallie students were expelled and nine Signal Mountain students were suspended after the incident, according to Times Free Press archives.

$20,000+ a year on education well spent. I'm sure after McCallie they will attend Chatt State like many others before them.
