The woman thought to be the shooter in an incident this morning at Signal Mountain Chiropractic was treated and released from Erlanger Hospital and is currently at the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office being questioned.
Signal Mountain Police identified her as 41-year-old Tina Loher of Eidson, Tenn.
Her ex-husband, Terrance Loher, is still in surgery at Erlanger after being shot once, said Signal Mountain Police Capt. Gregg Hall, during a briefing shortly after 2 p.m. today.
The children of the woman believed to have been the shooter knew their mother had a gun when the three drove up the mountain, according to employees at a nearby business.
The shooting atop Signal Mountain occurred at the clinic shortly after 9:30 a.m., authorities said.
Shortly after the shooting, two girls, 5 and 7, were seen wandering the parking lot outside the clinic, said employees of the Prudential real estate office in the same shopping center.
Prudential employees said they took the girls inside their office, got them lunch and played video games with them.
“They were scared,” said Karen Chattin-Davis, office coordinator for Prudential. “The 7-year-old knew what was going on and knew what (her mom) was going to do.”
The state Department of Childrens’ Services picked up the two girls about 1:30 p.m.
The Signal Mountain police and Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department offices are still on the scene.
During a news conference at 11 a.m., Capt. Hall confirmed one person was airlifted to Erlanger hospital while another was transported by EMS to Erlanger.
He said it was too early in the investigation to know how many shots were fired. Police are at the hospital but have not been able to interview the victims, Capt. Hall said.
A weapon was recovered at the scene, he said.
An employee at Beacon Health Pediatric said the shooting occurred in Ashley Plaza at the Signal Mountain Chiropractic Clinic. The chiropractor’s name posted on the door of the business is listed as Terrance J. Loher.
Witnesses said two employees of the chiropractor’s office ran into the Signal Mountain Athletic Club and said a woman shot the chiropractor and then shot herself.
A Webbco Graphics employee who asked not to be identified said a man entered their office after the shooting and said, “Lock your doors, there’s been gunshots.”
“We’re trying to get all the pieces of the puzzle together,” Capt. Hall said,
