Reservations are being accepted from area schoolteachers for the Arts & Education Council's TheatreExpress for the 2009-10 school year.
The two productions are both musicals: "Play To Win: The Jackie Robinson Story," to be presented Jan. 25 at the Tivoli Theater, and "Junie B. Jones," scheduled April 14 at Memorial Auditorium.
"Play To Win," recommended for ages 2-6, is based on the story of the Brooklyn Dodgers star who broke baseball's race barrier. "Junie B. Jones," for grades K-5, follows author Barbara Park's popular character from kindergarten to first grade.
TheatreExpress has presented professional drama to students in prekindergarten through 12th grade for the past 18 years. In addition to quality theater, the series provides in-depth study guides that help weave the arts experience into the classroom.
Tickets are $5 per person, with one free adult ticket for every 20 student seats reserved. Advance reservations are required. Allied Arts of Greater Chattanooga can provide financial assistance for tickets and transportation. Those applications will be accepted starting Sept. 15.
For reservations call 267-1218 or 800-267-4232, or visit www.artsedcouncil.org.
