Clinton to keynote Tennessee Democratic event

NASHVILLE — Former President Bill Clinton is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at a Tennessee Democratic fundraiser.

Clinton will speak at the Jackson Day Dinner Aug. 29 at the Renaissance Hotel.

State Democratic Party chairman Chip Forrester said in announcing the speaker that Clinton presided over the greatest economic expansion the country has seen.

Gov. Phil Bredesen and former U.S. Rep. Harold Ford Jr. of Memphis are co-chairing this year’s event.

Forrester said former Gov. Ned McWherter was instrumental in engaging his longtime friend Clinton to speak at the gathering.
