Man sought in Knoxville bank robbery

The Knoxville Division of the FBI and Chief Sterling Owen IV of the Knoxville Police Department are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the man who robbed a Knoxville bank today.

The robbery happened about 12:45 p.m. this afternoon, when the man entered the Home Federal Bank located at 4900 N. Broadway in Knoxville and presented a demand note and threatened to have an explosive device, said Stacie Bohanan, an FBI spokeswoman.

Witnesses described the robber as a black male about 30 to 35 years of age, between 6 feet and 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing about 230 to 250 pounds. The robber was wearing blue jean shorts, a white, short-sleeve shirt and a navy blue visor. After obtaining an undetermined amount of money, the man left in a white, full-size pickup truck last seen heading north on Broadway, Ms. Bohanan said.

A reward is being offered for any information which leads to the arrest of the robber. Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 865-544-0751 or the Knoxville Police Department at 865-215-7212.
