Phillips: Deep Blue Sun a soulful pleasure

Best act you probably didn’t see today — Deep Blue Sun. When this Atlanta-based group of psychedelic jammers opened up the Bud Light Stage, podcaster Sean Phipps and I were blown away.

Their combination of lead singer John Marsh’s soulful vocals and funky organ riffs with Matt Lynn’s impressive guitar shredding was incendiary. In some ways, they remind me of fellow Georgians the Allman Brothers Band and the soulful Mr. Randall Bramblett.
