A diet that is sure to work

I recently read a story at www.cnn.com about foods you can eat to help lose fat. I’m a big eater of many of them and can’t say for sure that they work because I haven’t noticed a significant shedding of pounds. Maybe that’s because I supplement my diet with chips, peanuts and other no-nos. But here’s the list. If nothing else, they’re healthy and good foods to get into your diet.

Almonds — One to three ounces daily will help to ward off hunger and stabilize your blood sugar.

Eggs — They’ll help jumpstart your day’s metabolism.

Milk — Good for bone health. Calcium also helps boost metabolism.

Asparagus — It’s a natural diuretic.

Iceberg lettuce — High in fat-flushing water.

Celery — Ditto. (High in fat-flusing water.)

Turkey — Contains muscle-building proteins.

Grapefruit — Burns calories and its high pectin count helps break down fats.

Water — Works in a myriad of ways.

So, fix yourself a salad with 1 cup each: lettuce, celery and asparagus. It will burn more calories than it takes in. Add a cup of grapefruit to your meal and drink a glass of water, and you’ve got a great diet going.
