Red Bank High School graduate Alan Walden, who missed most of the season with a fracture in his elbow, was selected in the 43rd round by the Atlanta Braves.
A right-handed pitcher and a University of Tennessee signee, Walden had been projected to go in the first five rounds prior to his injury. The 6-foot-4, 165-pounder had been clocked at 94 mph. He underwent surgery in late May, though, and is expected to begin throwing again in about a month.
