The Lee Boys

Sacred steel gospel and bluegrass — the combination may sound unorthodox. Still, spend a few minutes listening to the Lee Boys and the Travelin’ McCourys, and you may be singing a different tune.

The Lee Boys, a sacred steel band from Florida, met the Travelin’ McCourys in 2007 after being invited to play Delfest, a festival honoring its namesake member of the McCoury family.

“We hooked up with Ronnie McCoury, Del’s oldest son,” said Lee Boys guitarist Alvin Lee. “He was feeling good vibes about us and he jumped onstage with us, and it went so great that Del asked us to stay and do a late jam with them.”

Since that early jam, the two groups have toured together off and on, wowing audiences with a soulful blend of bluegrass and funk-infused gospel.

The Lee Boys take the Bud Light Stage with the Travelin’ McCourys at 7:45 p.m.
