A 73-year-old Chickamauga, Ga., man was arrested this week and charged with sexual exploitation of a child, according to Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson.
Walker County Sheriff’s Office detectives served a search warrant Tuesday evening at the home of Robert L. Hoppel, who lives on Vittetoe Road, after developing information that he was in possession of child pornography. During the search of the residence, detectives located a considerable amount of child pornography in the home, the sheriff said.
Mr. Hoppel was booked at the Walker County Jail on four counts of sexual exploitation of a child and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
He was released on an $11,000 bond Wednesday afternoon and is set to appear in Walker County Superior Court in November. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting with the investigation.
