U.S. Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., said this morning that the ultimate decision when it comes to health care reform will be President Barack Obama’s.
Sen. Corker said the president can bring a “partisan bill or a bipartisan bill” to Congress, and may succeed either way, but argued that lasting reforms find a middle ground. He said he hopes Congress ends up “with a bill that I can vote for.”
Sen. Corker said he thinks the best role government could play in health care would be to limit tax exemptions on insurance premiums, and pool the taxes collected to be used for those who can’t afford health insurance.
Tennessee’s junior senator spoke to attendees of a Tennessee Press Association breakfast at the Sheraton Read House.
