Bargain hunting

Moms looking for great bargains should head to Camp Jordan today for the opening of Just Between Friends Summer/All-Season consignment sale. Gently used and new children’s clothing, toys, furnishings, equipment (as well as maternity clothes) will be sold for as much as two-thirds off retail price.

“We have more than 850 consignors,” said event leader Stacy Ervin. “Anything your child needs to finish out warm weather, go to school and get through the holidays will be sold this week.”

Just Between Friends hours are noon to 7 p.m. today, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. On Saturday, remaining items are further discounted. Unsold items are donated to Bethel Bible Village

Topic: Transition your child to kindergarten

We transitioned my daughter from preschool to kindergarten about two years ago. I’ve found that what works best is eliminating as much of the “unknown factor” as possible.

Before the end of her preschool year, we visited and observed a kindergarten classroom in action and met her new teacher. We also maintained a daily routine, which included reading books, plus a lunch, nap and potty-break schedule that matched that of her kindergarten class. By the time the first day of school rolled around, my daughter was so excited that she knew what to expect. Of course she still had jitters about making new friends.
