Tennessee: Police believe death of couple was murder-suicide

CHURCH HILL, Tenn. — Authorities in northeast Tennessee say it appears the deaths of a Hawkins County couple were the result of a murder-suicide.

Sheriff Roger Christian told the Kingsport Times-News 61-year-old Joseph Jones and his 53-year-old wife Patricia Jones were found dead inside their home on Saturday by Patricia Jones' two daughters.

Christian said a gunshot residue test is being done to determine whether Joseph Jones was the shooter, as deputies believe was the case.

The sheriff said the daughters went to check on their mother when she failed to appear at a baby shower.
