LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee says the U.S. should respond more strongly in support of political protesters in Iran.
Huckabee told a gathering of Southern Baptist pastors in Louisville, Ky., that the U.S. should push for an investigation of the disputed election in Iran and push to allow media outlets into Iran to report on the unrest.
The ordained Baptist minister and former Arkansas governor says God is hearing the protesters’ voices. He said, “God help us if we do not hear their voices” and stand with them.
After his speech, Huckabee grabbed a guitar and performed a hymn with a band on stage.
The pastors are gathering ahead of a Baptist convention that begins today.

Anyone who watches the news knows that the majority of the US is behind the protesters. We have almost 24 hr news coverage, Twitter chats and demonstrations in this country. It is not appropriate for top US officials to stick their nose in since this would only give the Iranian leaders a bigger excuse to come down on the protesters by claiming they were in collusion with the devil Americans.
Hopefully Iraq has taught us to stop being the sole police for the world. But sounds like some politicians haven't quite got it yet.
