Richard P. McKenney, the chief financial officer for Sun Life Financial Inc., is joining Unum Corp. as executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Unum said Monday that Mr. McKenney will succeed Robert C. Greving, who is retiring as the company's top finance officer later this year. Mr. McKenney, a graduate of Tufts University, previously worked in top financial jobs at Sun Life, Genworth Financial Inc. and GE Financial Assurance Holdings Inc.

"Rick brings to Unum substantial financial and operational experience, and he has a proven track record of success as a senior financial officer and leader," Unum CEO Thomas R. Watjen said.
