Dancing With Stars benefits Partnership

* What: First "Dancing With the Stars Chattanooga" contest, pairing local celebrities with professional dancers, held at Loose Cannon Studio.

* Benefits: Partnership for Families, Children and Adults.

* Amateur competitors: Alison Lebovitz, Jason Taylor, Carolyn Thompson, George Quick, Renee LaSalle, Linda Mosley.

* Guest performers: Tony Dovolani and Elena Grinenko, who have appeared on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars."

* Winners: Jason Taylor, Dancing Championship Award; Alison Lebovitz, Fan Favorite Award.

Home Builders support Red Cross

* What: 43rd annual Home Show sponsored by the Home Builders Association of Southern Tennessee, co-sponsored by EPB and Times Free Press.

* Benefits: $15,000 donation made to Greater Chattanooga Area Red Cross' disaster relief fund.

* About the Red Cross: The local chapter serves more than 725,000 people in 13 counties. It is not a government agency and relies on donations of time and money to accomplish its work.

Courtyard by Marriott fundraiser helps Ronald McDonald House Charities

* What: Courtyard by Marriott donates $6,000 raised through sales of Riverbend Potty Passes.

n Benefits: Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chattanooga

* Restroom relief: With its prime location at the main entrance to the Riverbend festival grounds on Chestnut Street, the Courtyard by Marriott offers festivalgoers use of its clean restrooms in exchange for a donation to the Ronald McDonald House. Potty passes are priced by a one-time use, an all-nighter, and new this year, the Potty Passport, which provided unlimited use throughout festival week.

* Anticipated event: "This has become a family affair with husbands, wives and children of volunteers, and even former team members coming to help," said hotel General Manager Andrea Anderson. "Knowing that the money is being used to support a family during a crisis situation is inspiring to all of our associates."

* Annual tradition: The Courtyard initiated this fundraiser in 2004, with $2,800 raised for Inner City Ministries. The following year, $4,000 was collected for Girls Inc. Since 2006, Ronald McDonald House has been the hotel's beneficiary, with a total of $17,000 raised.

Shoe show at Choo-Choo

* What: Chattanooga Shoe Shoe at the Choo-Choo.

* Benefits: Chattanooga Room in the Inn, a local shelter for homeless women and their children. The sold-out luncheon raised $30,000.

* Where: Chattanooga Choo-Choo's Imperial Ballroom.

* Highlights: Lunch followed by a fashion show of summer shoe styles from Shoe Candy.

Delta Sigma Theta crowns Miss Jabberwock

* What: Jabberwock, a triennial fundraiser for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, held at the Tivoli Theatre.

* Benefits: Delta Sigma Theta's scholarship fund for high school students.

* Highlights: Young women in three age divisions competed for title of Miss Jabberwock; local youth talent acts performed.
