Ginger Crawford has joined St. Barnabas Senior Living Services as director of marketing and admissions for its skilled nursing division, adjacent to Siskin Hospital and Erlanger.
She has more than 10 years of long-term care experience. At St. Barnabas she will visit patient referrals from area hospitals for St. Barnabas’s short-term rehabilitation therapy program.
She previously was a hospital liaison with Life Care Centers of America. She is a graduate of Lee University.
McDonald receives special recognition
Dennis McDonald, a professional driver for Chattanooga-based Covenant Transport, received the Master Truck Driver Award from the Indiana Motor Truck Association. It is the second award the Indiana Motor Truck Association has given to a Covenant driver.
The recognition takes note of safe driving and community service.
Mr. McDonald has been with Covenant since 2000. He obtained the title of master trainer in June 2006.
Janitorial firm opens new office
Crenshaw & Associates Janitorial has announced the opening of its new office in Suite 303 at 170 N. Ocoee St. in Cleveland, Tenn.
Owner Shawn Crenshaw said the business had been started by his father, Paul Crenshaw, in Cleveland more than 35 years ago.
The business provides cleaning and specialty services to companies in Bradley, McMinn and Hamilton counties.
The company owner is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and is pursuing an MBA at Indiana Wesleyan University. He and his family live in Ooltewah.
Sherrill wins engineering award
Truman Sherrill recently was named the winner of the Jo Conn Guild Outstanding Engineer of the Year award by the Chattanooga Engineers Club.
Mr. Sherrill’s work in connection with Enterprise South industrial park was a key part leading to the recognition, a news release said.
Mr. Sherrill serves as a civil engineer and surveyor at Barge Waggoner Sumner & Cannon.
He joined the company’s Knoxville office and in 2001 became a part of the Chattanooga office when the firm entered this market.
KMT wins Best of Show award
KMT Creative Group recently won the overall Best of Show award at the American Advertising Federation of Chattanooga’s ADDY awards presentation at Chattanooga Golf & Country Club.
KMT’s newspaper campaign on behalf of Memorial Health Care System’s orthopedic services was judged as the leading entry in the Chattanooga market for 2008, a news release stated.
It was the fourth time in the last five years that KMT has earned a Best of Show award, it was stated. KMT, a Chattanooga-based agency, won a total of 13 ADDY awards.
Local orthodontist elected group’s VP
Dr. James W. McDaniel, a local orthodontist, has been elected vice president of the Tennessee Association of Orthodontists.
He completed his dental and orthodontic education at the University of Tennessee and opened his orthodontic practice in Chattanooga in 1977. His son, Dr. Andrew McDaniel, joined the practice four years ago. They now have satellite offices in Cleveland and Jasper.
The association is a nonprofit group of 190 orthodontists in Tennessee.
Barker named to Bahakel post
Bernie Barker, a 30-year radio veteran, has been named by Bahakel Communications, parent company of WDEF and WDOD AM/FM radio stations in Chattanooga, to serve as vice president and general manager of the stations here.
Mr. Barker also has served as chair and vice chair for the Arbitron Radio Advisory Council, president of the Georgia Association of Broadcasters and president of the Alabama Broadcasters Association.
Danny Howard will assist Mr. Barker as station manager for the Chattanooga market. Jeff Fontana will continue as general sales manager for the cluster of local stations.
Bahakel also operates radio stations in Colorado Springs, Colo., and Waterloo, Iowa. The firm has five television stations located in Charlotte; Columbia and Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Montgomery, Ala.; and Jackson, Tenn. It holds ownership of a Roanoke, Va., golf course.
Harding named Sprinklers manager
Ed Harding has become manager of the portable/fixed systems division of American Fire Sprinklers. He has more than 20 years of experience in fire safety.
American Fire Sprinklers is a source for fire protection for its customers.
Home assistance opens local office
Aid & Assist At Home Inc. will celebrate the opening of its office in Chattanooga on Thursday with a grand opening. The office, which opened Jan. 26, is located at Suite C-26 at 5600 Brainerd Road.
The company serves 35 counties in Tennessee, providing nonmedical, in-home services to meet basic needs of clients. Services include personal care, housekeeping, cooking, laundry, transportation and running errands.
“We provide a number of in-home services to assist individuals who require assistance with their daily routines, but are not ready to leave the comfort and security of their own homes for a nursing home environment,” said Carol Speaks, area manager.
Goodwill opening larger Hixson store
Officials of Chattanooga Goodwill Industries have announced they plan a celebration on Friday in connection with the opening of a store at 1966 Northpoint Blvd. in the Northgate Crossing Shopping Center in Hixson.
The store is located near the current Goodwill retail space, but at 12,996 square feet it is three times the size of the older location.
The new store also will feature a storefront, drive-up donation center.
Taylor Reedy, retail stores director for Chattanooga Goodwill, projects the new store will need 30 employees, double the number of employees of the current store.
Sales revenue at the new and larger Hixson Goodwill store is expected to nearly double, to a projected $1.3 million, according to Angela Ballard, director of marketing and public relations for Chattanooga Goodwill.
Revenue from the store will support the nonprofit organization’s programs, all of which are offered free of charge, a news release stated. They include job training, career transitions programs, and clothing voucher assistance.
Chattanooga Goodwill has for more than 80 years helped people with disabilities and other disadvantages get the training and help they need to find employment, the release stated.
The Chattanooga Goodwill service area covers 23 counties in Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia.
