Dade's McKaig off assessor board

by Mike O'Neal

TRENTON, Ga.  — Brenda McKaig should no longer serve on the Dade County Board of Assessors, Superior Court Judge Brian House ruled Tuesday.

Judge House ruled that Mrs. McKaig had failed to complete state-mandated training in a timely manner and was therefore no longer qualify to serve on that board.

Mrs. McKaig served on the board from 1999 to 2007, when she resigned. She was reappointed in July, 2008. State officials told the county that she must be recertified within six months of her appointment, but Mrs. McKaig didn’t meet recertification requirements in time.

The Dade County Commission will hold a special meeting Thursday night to appoint a replacement.
