A former Brainerd High School assistant and Nashville school teacher has been arrested and charged with rape and sexual battery by an authority figure, according to Nashville police.
In a news release, Nashville police said Ronald Boykin, 40, of Tampa Drive in Nashville, was stopped for a traffic violation in that city earlier today. When the officer checked Mr. Boykin’s license the officer found that the license had been suspended and that Mr. Boykin was wanted in Chattanooga on two counts of rape, one count of sexual battery by an authority figure and one count of attempted sexual battery by an authority figure, the release stated.
Mr. Boykin was investigated in August 2005 while he was an educational assistant at Brainerd High School after a complaint was filed with police, according to Times Free Press archives. He was suspended without pay during that investigation, schools officials said at the time.
Police said Mr. Boykin was returned to Hamilton County in custody this afternoon.
Mr. Boykin had been teaching at Donelson Middle School, where detectives this week have interviewed students in his classes, according to a Nashville police statement. Two boys have told police Mr. Boykin touched them inappropriately at his home, according to the statement
