After falling behind 3-0 after one inning, UNC Greensboro rallied with two runs each in the fourth and fifth innings to claim a 4-3 win over Furman on Friday at the Southern Conference softball tournament at Warner Park.
Baylor School graduate Mary Catherine Vercoe went 2-for-3 for the Spartans and knocked in the go-ahead run with an RBI single in the fifth inning. Vercoe scored also scored twice in the game.
Brythe Blankenship hit a bases-loaded double for all of Furman's RBIs in the first inning. The loss ends the Paladins' season with a record of 22-29.
UNC Greensboro (26-32) next faces Georgia Southern later Friday in an elimination game.
