UTC student killed in crash by apparent drunk driver near her Nashville area home

Katie Kerr, a senior at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga planning to graduate this summer, was killed when her car, a Nissan Sentra, collided head-on with a 1996 Jeep Cherokee driven by Ian McClellan around 2 a.m. Wednesday.

The crash happened on I-40 near the Dickson/Davidson county line, according to Nashville Metro police.

Nashville Metro officers said McClellan, 29, smelled of alcohol and found broken bottles in his vehicle. He told police he began drinking at 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon in Spring Hill, Tenn. He was charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication.

Ms. Kerr, was a resident of White Bluff, Tenn., about 30 miles west of Nashville. She was driving home from her Bellevue job, where she worked at a restaurant.

She was a 2004 graduate of Dickson County High School and was attending UTC where she was majoring in English with a focus in International Studies.

Her father, Eric Kerr, said she was interested in teaching.

Instead of eliminating this guy from the gene pool for his stupid actions, some do-gooder will want to rehabilitate him so he can go out and do the same foul deed.

We need to make more use of tall trees and short ropes on these cancerous scumbags.

My condolences to the family of Katie Kerr.
