GPS beats St. Benedict to win Division II state softball championship

GPS claimed its third straight TSSAA Division II state softball championship Saturday, beating St. Benedict 5-1 in the D-II AA title game in Murfreesboro. The Bruisers were upset Friday night, forcing a deciding game Saturday, but scored three runs in the fourth and finish the season 25-7 overall.

Morgan Lane had an RBI double, Megan Givens and Maddie Smith also drove in runs and Payton Leech earned the pitching win.
