House burns in Soddy-Daisy

A Soddy-Daisy resident escaped his house with only minor burns after rescuing his five dogs from his burning house, officials said.

At 6:30 p.m., Lovell Stollard went into his home at 9977 Smith Morgan Road to find the living room on fire, said Hamilton County EMS spokeswoman Amy Maxwell.

Mr. Stollard ran through his house trying to retrieve his dogs while his neighbor called 911 to report the fire, Ms. Maxwell said.

Sequoyah Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene and called for the Dallas Bay VFD to assist with additional manpower, she said.

Mr. Stollard was transported to the hospital and no other injuries were reported, she said. The house was a total loss, she said.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire, she said.
