Letters to the Editors

Choose the side of nation's founders

Do we ever talk about the wonderful men who were instrumental in shaping and defining this great country with their intrinsic values and principles. They are the likes of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Ben Franklin, Alexander Hamilton and many more.

They have largely disappeared from the textbooks in our schools because the federal government has an agenda to influence and indoctrinate our children. These powers that be do not believe in the validity and sanctity of the Constitution, therefore they bypass these patriots.

There is a revolution going and a choice to make. You can choose the founders with their emphasis on limited government, freedom of speech and the press, individual liberty and thrift in government. The other way to go is with the Obama administration, which is on a fast track to take these rights from us and soon we will not recognize this country we love so much. It will become a socialist state and we will be its slaves.

What price is liberty and which side will you choose? The clock is ticking and we must save our republic.

MARY JANE REILLY

Constitution is our judge

"The alternate domination of one faction over another, ... natural to party dissension, ... is itself a frightful despotism" (George Washington).

Twenty-three aristocrats from the Society of Cincinnati signed the Constitution. Federalists also included manufacturing and merchant classes, property owners, creditors, and settled religions. Money was the issue.

The Preamble is the Constitution's explicit purpose that Federalists swore to uphold and maliciously breached or violated to keep the masses "in their place." "Frightful despotism" systematically transformed government into a domineering beast.

Biblical teaching revolves around law. Messianic instruction emphasizes unity -- law's ultimate purpose. It condemns aristocrats and Pharisees, or "separatists," who instill disunity. In America, Federalists, now Republicans, created the beast; and the Constitution, not Moses, is our judge. Wealth made us forget law's purpose until "frightful despotism" overpowered us.

Reason demonstrates that the Constitution and wealth are in opposition; and we cannot serve both. Ignoring law's purpose results in its curse: despotism -- "A kingdom divided against itself ..." Kill the vision; the nation dies! Shared wealth restores law's purpose and repairs the breach. Unity restrains the beast. Obeying law conveys its blessing -- the promised land.

"Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he."

RICHARD D. VICKREY

We brought Iraq chance at freedom

People should sift through the muck to find what is real. Unfortunately, some write about it, but do not follow their own suggestions. Example: what happened in Iraq is that we overthrew a dictator who killed and maimed his own people; one who allowed his sons to rape and torture those he was supposed to be protecting.

We brought Iraq a chance at freedom and democracy. This is what the Democrats pushed for: Hillary, Kerry, Albright, Berger, Pelosi, Gore, Kennedy and Byrd; all Democrats.

Saddam bluffed Iran concerning weapons of mass destruction and we took it seriously. I would think that WMDs have a higher priority than a bunch of rag-tag terrorists in Afghanistan. We did assist Afghanistan with running the terrorists out of most of that country. Unfortunately, we could not get Pakistan or the liberals to do their part. Now that Pakistan is ready, our administration is dilly-dallying around to appease the liberal left.

Another point: Fox News is the most fair and balanced of all cable news and has been watched by more than any other cable news for the last eight years -- fact, not fiction.

Allow military to run the war

There is no question that the U.S.A. can win any war in which we are involved. We have the technology and the best, most competent military in the world. So, what is the problem?

It is the leadership; no, not the military leadership, but the civilian leadership. We have people who have failed at running the Postal Service, Social Security, Medicare, Cash for Clunkers, AIG and other government-controlled operations trying to run a war. Bush took a hard line against Iraq, and the Democrats fought him his entire term.

Now we have a 48-year-old who has no military experience trying to balance the critical issues and appease his liberal constituents just as he has tried to appease the unions, George Soros and other far-left exclusivities.

My career military friends say give the military what they need, let them run the war and we can have the enemy defeated and the Afghanistan military up and running in two to three years. Petraeus proved that point.

US becoming more like Russia

A few short years ago, both Democrats and Republicans cherished freedom. Both valued the Christian principles upon which this country was founded. Both saw that free enterprise was what made us great and unique from the rest of the world.

But now, we are looking more like Russia in the '60s. Free enterprise is being replaced by socialism/Marxism. The government is trying to silence those, such as Fox News, which dare to criticize.

Separation of church and state is used as an axiom to eliminate all vestiges of God in our schools and government. Christian principles have been compromised by widespread acceptance of homosexuality and abortion and the belief that there are other ways to God rather than through Christ.

Keep an eye on the December convention in Copenhagen on environmentalism. One reliable authority says that the agreement could usher in a world government, and if ratified by our Congress, could supersede our Constitution. The wealth of the world will be redistributed to third world countries. Sound familiar? The countries that ratify this cannot opt out unless approved by all. I find it ironic that Al Gore' fantasy could be instrumental in this.

Morris' beliefs all about money

I really enjoy reading your paper in the morning. I read all the sections: National, Metro, Sports, Life. All very well put together, in my opinion.

You "could" ease up on the amount of NASCAR coverage in the sports section.

The thing I don't understand is why you would want to sully your newspaper with those editorials and columns at the end of the metro section.

Not really the editorials so much, but the columns. I appreciate the fact that you try to cover both sides. But why in the world would you carry the Dick Morris column? The Republican strategist who sold out to the other side. Now he's back with the other side. He will write whatever he thinks sells at any given time. He has no core beliefs other than that money talks.

He has no credibility. Please try to explain to me why you carry his column.

So, Ms. Stewart, by your logic, we should send massive amounts of troops to the Sudan, to North Korea, and various other countries that have "dictators" who murder and maim their citizens. No oil in those countries, you say. I guess Faux News has not informed their audience that the perpetrators of 9/11 fled to Afghanistan after their attack on this country -- NOT TO IRAQ! After 8 years of dilly-dallying in Afghanistan, you want to blame the liberals. You have no reasoning powers and I see much of the same lame brained excuses for why we are "nation building" in a country that NEVER did anything to any citizen of this country. I thought your party was against nation building. I guess that part of your platform is gone too, huh? That along with any sense of decency or respect for facts.

In the article, "Deal touts state over federal emphasis," I have to ask the question: When did Nathan Deal become a "States Rights" champion? This is the same guy who offered to work out a federal deal to the "water wars." This is the same guy who voted present on the Cash for Clunkers program (a program which took my money and gave it to other people for the benefit of giant corporations). This is the same guy who has made a career out of proposing federal solutions to Georgia's problems.

Ray McBerry did not release an ad touting States Rights, he made States Rights the centerpiece of his campaign from the very outset. Deal and others have suddenly decided to switch their positions because they realized how popular the message was with voters. Typical political rubbish from a typical Washington Insider.

We don't need a another federal boot licker like Deal in the Governor's mansion. We need someone who will stand up for Georgians against an out-of-control federal government. We need someone who has consistently taught and lived the message of states rights. Ray McBerry is the only candidate who has done that.

My, my anniebelle. Such a nice name and such vitriolic hatred swpewing from your dainty mouth. Your comments remind me of your less 'polite' leftists-cohorts on other forums here on the good ole' "Times Free Press" site.

The Islamic Terrorists (not just "perpetrators") did not come from only Afghanistan and did not only flee back there. There are cells worldwide, in all Middle East countries, Europe, North, Central and South Americas, Asia and southeast Asia. Many escaped over to Iran and Syria and have continued operations, killings from those protective sites...Where is the oil we gained from the Iraq war? The Afghan war? We have received no recompense for the blood and sacrifice Americans spent on their soil...The question NOW is, yes eight years and when is YOUR guy going to respect the General's opinion that HE picked and make a decision whether to leave or stay and fight? Appeasing Terrorists and bowing to their Kings and Dictators does NOT save us from the Bad Guys. They are already here and abroad and itching to spill our blood.

Mary Jane Reilly, Ima Stewart, Jeri Gritton and Jack Williams are absolutely correct and have stated the facts, unlike what you have spewed. I suspect they also did their research and have years more experience in reality than what I've seen on these forums.

R. Vickrey's statements regarding the Law and "shared wealth" sounds more Socialist than what the Biblical Old and New Covenants meant to convey. Maybe I misunderstood his statement, but Adonai never ordered his people to "share their wealth" with non-believers and their enemies. They were to give aid and help the poor, widowed, orphans and fatherless among them and also to those who were "strangers" among them. These were mitzvahs, (commandments) and commonly employed as charity. We, in the US have extended that Charity/Aid to hundreds of millions of strangers worldwide for generations-with little to no thanks.

These are the facts and this is true decency, not the contrived 'compassion' of the Liberal-Left who undermine our country everyday with vile hostility and hatred toward those who are attempting to be decent human beings. I ask where are all of the so-called charities of the Left and of many other religions worldwide? They cannot touch the amount of charity of Judeo-Christian America that has continued for almost 300 years towards those in other lands.

Contrary to the Left-Socialist stance that the first Jewish Believers and their congregations were practicing Socialism, they were to share everything as One Body in unity with Yeshua. Nations were given authority to go to war (as they demanded for themselves in the Books of Kings I & II), but individuals (Believers)in the Body are supposed to exist in unity and in peace.

I do not like or read Dick Morris either yet why, Tim Engel do you want to shut him up? He isn't a Terrorist is he? A Hitler? He is a man voicing his opinion and thankfully, the Free Press's 'Right' side prints a good variety of thoughtful, well-researched opinion. Or maybe you are one of many I am seeing here who would love to shut up all Conservatives and deny them their right to speak out? You might do what I do with the Left side. I fold it up and use it in the cat's litter box :)

@Jeri- Bush's hard line stance against Iraq is hardly something to brag about considering it is an unjust war and should have never been started in the first place. Granted Bush served 4 to 6 years in the Guard but his service was mediocre and uneventful. Sorry, but a short stint in the Guard hardly makes a person more qualified to be Commander in Chief than somebody with no military time.

Hmmm...Ms. Reilly: I'd like to know which books are used in our schools that have George Washington etc. removed from them.

"They have largely disappeared from the textbooks in our schools because the federal government has an agenda to influence and indoctrinate our children. These powers that be do not believe in the validity and sanctity of the Constitution, therefore they bypass these patriots."

Anybody have titles? Authors? Since the feds don't write or issue textbooks and most schools choose books by district (except CA and TX, which adopt texts statewide) I am having a tough time believing this letter. Where would such a claim originate?

Canary - you've migrated out over the ocean again with no place to land. The majority of extremist Muslims who attacked us on 911 were Saudis - you know, George Bush's kissin' cousins. The unconscionable deaths and shredded lives in Iraq are an Albatross hung around his neck and a millstone hung around yours and mine. No justice is possible. Your tribal religion and its scribbles are no better that those of the Taliban. I just wish we could drop your blathering fanny in the "mission field" of Waziristan and let you put your zeal to work. If your god is no powerful, they wouldn't have a chance. Reality is, you would learn what loneliness is and that the problems of the world will never be solved by fools on their knees with their eyes shut.
