Robert P. Cobb, 92, passed away Friday, Nov. 6, 2009.
He was of the Christian Church Faith and was owner of Robert Cobb Signs. Mr. Cobb was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Marine Corps in Guadal Canal and was a member of the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by a son, John Robert “Bobby” Cobb.
Survivors include his wife, Cora W. Cobb; two daughters, Claudia Anderson and her husband Robert of Nashville, and Patricia McCoy and her husband, Eddy, of Raleigh, N.C.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Ralph Edward Jones Sr., 79, of Hixson, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at this home.
Mr. Jones was a veteran of the United States Army.
He was employed with Plumbers and Steamfitters local # 43 for 55 years and was a Steamfitter Apprentice Instructor at Sequoyah Nuclear plant for several years. He was a Mechanical Building Inspector for the city of Chattanooga for several years prior to his retirement.
He was a man who enjoyed a good joke especially when he was the instigator of it.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jones; parents, Sam and Annie Jones; grandson, Spencer Wells Jones.
Survivors include his sons, Terry (Kathy) Jones, and Eddie Jones; daughters, Leslie (Brian) Scoggins and Connie (Alan) Jones; grandchildren, Lorin Jones, Laura Jones and Laura Allison Brown; sisters, Betty Jolly, and Caroline (Fernando) Ochoa; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. today, Nov. 7, at the North Chapel.

Tommy Lebron “Bubba” Lay Sr., 52 passed away on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 4, 1957 to Harold Lay Sr., and Vinia L. Gladden. Tommy accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized as a member of Mount Paran Baptist Church.
Tommy graduated from Howard High School class of 1975. Tommy was a devoted father and grandfather, a great friend to all that knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wanda Lay; sister, Mary “Kitty” Davis; grandmother, Velma Young; grandfather, Damon Lewis and godparents, Oscar and Minnie Strawter.

She served as a secretary for Doctors Brackett and Royal and she also served as a secretary at Tepper Hospital. She was a member of Simpson United Methodist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by husband, Wayland Dean Melton; son, Adrian Kent Cherry; sister, Martha Daube.
She is survived by daughter, Marcelle (Robert) McLucas, of Eustice, Fla.; two sons, James Gregory (Jill) Melton, of Boynton, Ga., Anthony Richard (Lisa) Melton, of East Ridge; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, John Richard Kidwell of Indianapolis, Ind.; sister, Pollie Anne Payne of Indianapolis, Ind.

Loyd “Dale” Roberson, 78, of Chattanooga, died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009.
Dale, the epitome of a Christian gentlemen, was retired from DuPont. A member of Brainerd Hill Baptist Church where he served as a head usher; was active in his Sunday school class and headed the Church’s visitation program to the homebound and elderly members of the church. A devoted gardener from whose garden his family and friends enjoyed wonderful vegetables that all will miss.
His daughter Sandra Lee Roberson Boyd preceded him in death.
Dale is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Bain Roberson; his daughter, Gail Roberson Secor; her husband, Al Secor, of Chattanooga; grandsons, Robert Boyd and his wife, Christa, of Knoxville, and Kennedy Dale Berresford and his fiancé, Christine Werth, of Chattanooga; and granddaughter, Candice Lee Boyd.

He was a lifelong resident of Lookout Valley and a member of Valley Memorial Baptist Church. He retired from the Iron Workers Local #704 in 1989 with 35 years of service. He loved to be outdoors, fishing, hunting, gardening or coaching softball for WFLI.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jinky Rogers; and his parents, Willard and Clara Rogers.

Lisa King Smith, 39, of Ooltewah, went home to be the Lord, Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009.
She was native of South Pittsburg, Tenn., having graduated in 1989 from South Pittsburg High School.
She was a loving, caring and devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was employed by Chattanooga Shooting Supply. She had attended Lookout Valley Baptist Church.
Lisa was a dedicated mother to her three children who were her pride and joy. She enjoyed planting flowers and taking care of her flower garden and plants and spent her leisure time working in her yard and maintaining her home.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Edna Mae King.
She is survived by her loving husband, Mark Smith; father, Albert King, South Pittsburg; two daughters, Sarah and Katie Durham and her son Taylor Smith, all of Ooltewah; brothers, Randy (Terry Lynn) King, Flat Rock, Ala., Jerry Don (Carol) King and Alvin “Bobo” (Donna) King; and her sister, Renee King, all of South Pittsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Doris Jeannine “Jean” Willhoit, of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, in Knoxville, after a three-year battle with cancer.
Jeannine was born in Cleveland, Tenn., and graduated from Bradley County High School. She was a longtime resident of Chattanooga and a member of Covenant Baptist Church of Chattanooga. She was an active member of church music programs and an avid supporter of UT athletics.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Maples; and her brother, R.L. Maples.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Bruce Willhoit; and sisters, Mildred Moore, Gladys Poteet, and Alma Sue Gates; and brother-in-law, J.O. Gates, all of Knoxville. She will be missed by a host of nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces, and great-great-nephews and nieces who knew her and loved her as Aunt GiGi.

SPRING CITY — William H. “Bill” Byerley Jr., 57, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at his home.
A lifelong residence of Rhea County, Bill was a graduate of Spring City High School, Class of 1970. He was employed as a security guard for Pinkerton Security at the Watts Bar Nuclear Plant for last five years.
Bill was a member of Spring City Foursquare Church and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, William Henry Byerley Sr.

Ralph McKinney
WINCHESTER — Ralph Terry McKinney passed on to be with the Lord on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at Southern Tennessee Medical Center after a battle with brain cancer.
Ralph was born on Sept. 25, 1931 to the late Roy and Bessie Tucker McKinney. He was raised in Estill Springs and attended elementary and high school in Franklin County before serving his country for four and one half years during the Korean War in the U.S. Navy. Ralph spent his working years at Arnold Engineering Development Center. He retired in January 1994 as a project manager. Ralph loved hunting, camping, and fishing with his friends. He also enjoyed serving the Good Samaritan Ministry in Franklin County for several years as a volunteer and also as vice-president before his illness. Ralph was a member of the Winchester Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he was active in the Men’s Club, the Joy Club and the Sunshine Class. He was also a Mason and a member of the Winchester Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite and was a Shriner.
In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his brothers, R.C. McKinney and Wayne McKinney.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Della McKinney; sons, Gary Steven (Julie) McKinney, of Palm City, Fla., and Duane Craig (Sandy) McKinney, of Manchester; stepdaughter, Carol (Brian) Sokol, of Christiana; stepsons, Steven Craig Eastes, of Tullahoma and Jeffrey Wayne (Christy) Eastes, of Mayfield, Ky.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

William Davidson
CHICKAMAUGA — William Allen Davidson, 48, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009.
He was born in Chattanooga on Aug. 28, 1961. He was of the Baptist faith, a former 20 year employee of Shaw Industries who loved riding motorcycles; especially the toy run. He was also an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, Mitzi Davidson; parents, Bill Davidson and Margaret Hale; five children and spouses, Kane Farley, Jeff Davidson, Kyle Steele, Joseph and Jennifer Davidson, Jeremy and Christian Davidson, two sisters, Kay Wright and Karen Morgan; three brothers, Doug Davidson, Clay Longworth and Shawn Davidson; six grandchildren, Tara, Abbi, Phoenix, Austin, Levi and Zach.
Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel.
Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. Sunday and prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.

Dorothy Hart
CHICKAMAUGA — Dorothy Louise Goodwin Hart, 75, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at her residence surrounded by her family.
A resident of the Chickamauga area for the past 40 years she was formerly of Chattanooga, and was a former employee of Hutcheson Home Health where she worked for six years.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Billy Ray Bankston; second husband, Baxter Boyd Hart; parents, Thomas Goodwin and Idella Sullivan; daughter, Regina Faye Shelby; granddaughter, Jamie Bankston; and three brothers, Edwin Goodwin, Donald Goodwin and Stanley “Whizzie” McKinney.
She is survived by her loving children, Kathy (Blane) Justice, of Rossville, Gary (Norma) Bankston, of Bryant, Ala., Judy (John) LaPointe, of Rossville, Patricia (Mike) Peterson, of Holt, Fla., and Thomas Austin Bankston, of Chickamauga, Ga.; two sisters, Kitty Maycann, of Chattanooga, and Barbara Hanson, of Chattanooga; three brothers, Huel Goodwin and Benny Goodwin, both of Birchwood, Tenn., and Lewis McKinne,y of Cleveland, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer (Tommy) Hubbard, Jimmy Holmes Jr., Tim Bankston, Melissa (Eric) Henry, Christina (Jason) Wallace, Misty Peterson, Evan Justice, Blair Bankston, Amber Bankston and Billy Holmes; nine great-grandchildren, Zackery Bankston, Hannah and Eli Henry, Aaron, Jacob, and Kaitlyn Mae Wallace, Matthew and Sarah Hubbard and Jaxon Connors; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ricky Studdard officiating.
Interment will follow at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends today from 5-9 p.m., all day Sunday and until funeral time Monday at the funeral home.

CLOUDLAND — Louise Busbin Hubler, 87, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009.

Mickey Powell
ROSSVILLE — Mickey Lynn Powell 55, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, in a local hospital.
He was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia area and was a well-known area route salesman for Mayfield Dairy for the past 26 years. Mr. Powell was an avid Georgia Bull Dogs football fan.
He was preceded in death by his father, Franklin Eugene Powell.
Survivors include his children, Crystal (Jeremy) Garrett, Chickamauga, Stephanie (Chip) Headrick, LaFayette; Michael (Carrie) Powell, Fort Oglethorpe; mother, Nevella Powell, Chickamauga; brothers, Brennon Powell, Chickamauga; Donald Powell, Chattanooga; and Ronald Powell, Trenton, Ga.; sisters, Peggy Smith, Soddy-Daisy, and Janet Aaron, Flintstone, Ga.; grandchildren, Savannah, Holly and Sydney Garrett; Lane and Gracie Headrick.

Walter White
ROSSVILLE — Walter Jackson White, 82, departed this life Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009.
He was born in Chattanooga to the late Thomas and Marietta White. Walter served his country in WWII, in the U.S. Army Paratroopers, and received a Purple Heart. He retired from Crane Co. after 40 years of service as an Inspector.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mildred White; children, Glen White, Raymond White, Ralph Compton, Marlene Lee, all of Rossville; siblings, Joseph White, of Houston, Texas, Ruby Garner, of Fort Oglethorpe; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, in the chapel with the Rev. Billy Fowler and the Rev. Alfred Johnson officiating.
Interment will follow Chattanooga National Cemetery with Military Honors.
