TBI seeks murder suspect

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is looking for a man wanted for the recent slaying of his girlfriend in Marion County, Tenn.

Michael Joseph Shirley, 29, last known address 142 Cheri Circle, Whitwell, Tenn., has been added to the list of Top 10 Most Wanted fugitives after a first-degree murder warrant was taken out for his arrest Wednesday.

Mr. Shirley is wanted in the beating and stabbing death of 27-year-old Brandi Duba. Ms. Duba’s body was found Tuesday in the residence she shared with the suspect.

Two small children were sleeping in the living room when her body was found in a bedroom. The victim’s vehicle also was discovered burned and abandoned near the residence.

Mr. Shirley has a violent criminal history dating back to 1999 that includes assaulting a police officer and aggravated assault.

Mr. Shirley is white with brown hair and brown eyes. He’s 6-foot-3, weighs 225 pounds and has numerous tattoos, including a swastika on his back. He is considered armed and dangerous and should be approached with caution.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Mr. Shirley is urged to call the TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND. There is an additional $1,000 reward for information leading to his capture from the TBI along with up to $1,000 from Crime Stoppers. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 698-3333.
