City officials said today they would like to see a three-percent increase on user fees for sewers to help pay with operational costs.
The measure is expected to come before the Chattanooga City Council next week. The fee increase would mean an average 70 cent increase on the user’s water bill.
Jerry Stewart, the city’s director of wastewater resources, said stormwater revenues were down this year, partly because more homes, businesses and industries are installing more energy-efficient toilets.
