Chattanooga: Bicyclist hit on Old Hixson Pike

A bicyclist was hit by a vehicle shortly after 11 a.m. today on Old Hixson Pike and suffered several lacerations and abrasions, police said.

The bicyclist was riding in the 5600 block of Old Hixson Pike when he crossed Middle Valley Road into the path of a vehicle, said Chattanooga Police Department spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary in a news release.

Identities of those involved have not been released.

No charges were filed and the driver had the right of way, Sgt. Weary said.

The cyclist was expected to be treated and released from Erlanger hospital, she said.
